The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG) engaged Qorvis Communications to augment a comprehensive communications campaign to further develop its unique image in the Middle East and its longtime friendship with the United States. The purpose of the campaign was to demonstrate the Kurdish progress towards democracy and show how the Kurdistan Region serves as a model for stability and security in Iraq.
Working closely with the KRG’s representative to the U.S., we assisted with public opinion research, messaging and media relations for key events, including the first phase of U.S. troop withdrawal in June as well as the Region’s highly successful elections in July 2010. The Qorvis team also spent time in country working with KRG officials to help launch the government’s massive transparency initiative, which received international acclaim.
Serving as their government affairs advisor, Qorvis ensured that key messages reached the U.S. Congress as well as target audiences in and out of government and across the U.S. Among other services, Qorvis facilitated the establishment of the Kurdish American Congressional Caucus; drafted legislation and shepherded its passage in the House of Representatives, and arranged for the client to testify before Congress and prepared it for those congressional hearings.
As a significant additional focus, Qorvis has transformed the KRG’s online reputation, dramatically improving relevant results on major search engines.
