Conconi joined Qorvis from The Washingtonian, where he worked 14 years as editor-at-large, responsible for the front of the magazine, “Capital Comment,” and also writing major pieces. Prior to his tenure at The Washingtonian, he spent nearly 13 years at The Washington Post, where he was an editor in the “Style” section and later wrote the daily “Personalities” column (what is now “Reliable Source”) for seven years.
Conconi originally came to Washington to work for the Evening Star, where he covered the District Building and the civil rights movement, including the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the “Poor People’s Campaign,” King planned to lead on Washington before he was murdered.
Between working for The Star and The Post, Conconi was Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson’s press secretary and worked with him on the founding of Earth Day and the international environmental movement.
Conconi has co-written two books - The Energy Balloon, written with former Kennedy/Johnson Interior Secretary Stewart Udall and energy expert David Osterhout; and The Washington Sting, written with the late Supreme Court press spokeswoman Toni House.
He has worked extensively on radio and television in the Washington area, serving as commentator and sometimes co-host on networks including Al Arabiya News Channel, WTTG, DC’s FOX television affiliate and the local News Channel 8, as well as various radio affiliates.
Conconi has appeared on a multitude of national news shows and just about every Washington channel at one time or another, serving as NBC affiliate’s commentator for the funeral of Princess Diana, as well as “Inside Edition” and “Good Morning Great Britain” commentator on the President Clinton sex scandal. He has appeared on CNN International and in a number of foreign locations, including Italy, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland, Spain, New Zealand, Hong Kong, France, Germany and Austria.
Conconi has taught courses at the University of Maryland, as well as lectured at the Smithsonian Institution, Georgetown University, American University, GW University and the University of Miami in Florida.

Conconi graduated with a public relations/industrial journalism degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and earned a master’s degree at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
