Esther Smith

Esther Thomas Smith, a 2002 laureate in the Washington Business Hall of Fame, is a Qorvis Communications founding partner and serves on the executive committee. Her entrepreneurial and governance experience, leadership, and deep roots in the region’s economy are brought to bear on many client issues.

Smith was founding editor of the Washington Business Journal, and subsequently founder of Washington Technology and TechNews Inc. During this period, she created a number of promotions including the Fast 50 and national Fast 500 listings of technology companies.

Smith was formerly a member of the board of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and was honored with the Earle C. Williams leadership award. She was also a trustee of the George Mason University Foundation, and a director on public and private corporate boards. She is a founder of the Washington affiliate of the International Women’s Forum, and of Women Corporate Directors-Washington.

As the wife of an Army officer, she was a founder of the first quality of family life initiative among the armed services. She served on the boards of the Atlantic Council and the World Affairs Council of Washington, and is a member of The Economic Club of Washington.
