Sparking a National Dialogue on Care Transitions
In February 2013, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation launched Care About Your Care, a targeted initiative highlighting efforts to improve the transition from hospital to home and reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions. Qorvis MSLGROUP was tasked with raising the awareness of this important topic. As part of the initiative, Qorvis MSLGROUP commissioned a report, The Revolving Door: A Report on U.S. Hospital Readmissions, featuring new Dartmouth Atlas hospital readmission data and results of a novel series of interviews with patients and providers about their experiences. Released in conjunction with the campaign, the report was covered exclusively through a partnership Qorvis MSLGROUP arranged with The Associated Press.
Qorvis MSLGROUP also hosted a stakeholder and press event which was attended by more than 300 people and streamed live on RWJF.org to another 2,000 viewers, who are eligible for Continuing Medical Education credits as part of their participation. The resulting coverage (800+ news stories) reached more than 34 million people through newspapers, trade magazines, radio, television and online coverage, and spurred a national conversation about return trips to the hospital and successful efforts to coordinate better care for patients leaving the hospital.
