Course Descriptions

As part of its “Culture of Learning”, QU is divided into four different course levels: 100 Series, 200 Series, 300 Series, and 500 series. Included in these offerings is a New Employee Orientation with an introduction to the coaching system, luncheon discussion groups,  financial assistance for outside professional courses, and the opportunity to take non-professional personal enhancement courses, including those in foreign languages, cooking, or understanding wines.

100 Series – “Orientation, “The Q Way” – This one day course helps new Qorvis employees adapt to our unique culture and obtain the knowledge and understanding of “The Q Way” – efficiently and effectively. During this course, new employees are also introduced to the Qorvis coaching system - our process for guiding our employees’ professional growth and development. Our goal is to give employees the tools to be productive, to contribute more and to find their way during the first few months and through their career with Qorvis. 

200 Series – The Art and Science of Communication” – These courses are opportunities to learn what wasn’t taught in college. This series contains programs and forums that teach the history, philosophies, tools and tactics that make the communications industry such an exciting and dynamic place to be. Past and courses include: Effective Writing, Media Training, Public Speaking, Press Release and Op-ed Writing, Media Pitching, Advertising/Marketing, Grassroots Campaigns, Crisis Communications, and the Power of Coalitions.

300 Series – Advanced Learning” – These courses address specific subjects, such as advertising, government relations, internet communications and client service among other areas. They serve not only to build individual skill levels, but to help advance the overall Qorvis objectives. Past and future courses include: Crisis Communications, Advertising Theories, Messaging, Media Relations and New Media Trends.

500 Series – “Personal Development, the Qorvis Learning Annex” – Everyone has interests and ambitions outside of work. Qorvis wants to help employees pursue those interests. The Qorvis culture of learning reaches far beyond professional objectives and into the many other areas that are of interest to employees, including music, art, languages, film, food, and culture. Past courses include: Introduction to Wine Tasting, The Path to a Healthier You, Italian and Spanish language courses, a private tour of the National Gallery of Art, and a backstage tour of the Kennedy Center.
