Qorvis Communications Named Agency of Record for YouthAIDS
Agency to Increase Awareness and Fundraising on Pro-bono Basis
Washington, DC - August 3, 2005 - Qorvis Communications announced today its commitment to help raise awareness and increase funding for YouthAIDS, a worldwide initiative of Population Services International (PSI), dedicated to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS among the world’s youth through education and prevention efforts.
As agency of record, Qorvis will manage all media relations and external outreach for YouthAIDS campaigns and events, kicking off with publicity for a multi-national celebrity fundraising and HIV/AIDS awareness campaign developed in partnership with ALDO shoes.
“YouthAIDS is an admirable and respected initiative that makes a significant impact on HIV/AIDS education and prevention on a global level,” said Kelley McCormick, managing director at Qorvis Communications who is leading the YouthAIDS account. “We are honored to be a part of YouthAIDS’ fight to educate and eradicate AIDS among the world’s youth.”
Qorvis will also oversee the YouthAIDS’ annual fundraiser at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC, on Sept. 14. Ted and Lynn Leonsis are gala chairs, with Jack Valenti the honorary chair for this year’s “Faces of Africa” gala, which celebrates the year’s successes and honors young adults, celebrities, politicians, and corporate leaders who make outstanding contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Qorvis joins an impressive list of YouthAIDS’ sponsors and partners, which include AOL, Levis, Kiehl’s, Pfizer, American Beauty, Roberto Coin, VH1, MTV, and The Gates Foundation, among others.
“Qorvis understands YouthAIDS’ unique marketing-based approach to fighting HIV/AIDS among the world’s youth,” said Kate Roberts, Founder and Director of YouthAIDS. “With Qorvis providing strategic counsel and public relations expertise, we look forward to reaching new audiences with life-saving messages for our prevention and education programs around the world.”
