  • Qorvis Partner Speaks to Harvard Business School Audience - On December 6, 2007 Qorvis Communications Partner Don Goldberg addressed the Harvard Business School (HBS) through its Outstanding Speakers Series, a year-long program designed to expose the Public Speaking Club and the rest of the HBS community to some of the greatest speakers in the world.

Goldberg, Qorvis’ crisis communications expert, talked to the emerging business leaders about how to manage public relations catastrophes in a corporate environment. Goldberg discussed numerous corporations which he helped through difficult communications challenges, including a United Nations and Congressional investigation of an oil-for food scandal, an international chemical spill that helped to overthrow a third world government, and Congressional investigations and hearings into government contractors and private international security firms. Goldberg has counseled corporations including Halliburton, General Motors, IBM, Adobe, Koch Industries, Double- Click, 3M, ZeroKnowledge and Horizon Airlines.

At the presentation, more than 150 students and executive education participants gathered to hear from Goldberg, who the Capitol Hill newspaper, Roll Call, called “the White House expert on congressional investigations,” and the National Journal called “a key player on President Clinton’s 25-hour-per-day damage control team.” The event proved to be a major attraction for the HBS Public Speaking and Negotiation Club's Outstanding Speaker Series for 2007 – 2008 and Goldberg has been requested to speak again in 2008.

Many students asked Goldberg about his background as a professional journalist prior to holding senior positions in both the legislative and executive branches of government. Additionally, his experience as a Special Assistant to President Clinton, when he was responsible for developing strategic responses to investigations and helped pioneer the integration of communications and legal strategy, proved to be of great interest to the audience.
