I'm curious why a posting dated 17 March 2008 still refers to Abubakar as a a current contender for the presidency. The election was nearly a year ago.

"And this is precisely what happened to former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is seeking his nation's presidency"

Good point, Ken. Abubakar is contesting the election, and he and another candidate have filed suit to have the results nullified due to widespread irregularities (read: fraud). The case is before the Supreme Court, and will be decided this summer. So he still considers himself a contender.
